About FAAC

The Friendship Advice-Action Council (FAAC) traces its roots back to its establishment in 1968. Founded with a vision to uplift and support marginalized communities, FAAC has since been a steadfast pillar in Hong Kong's social landscape. Over the years, FAAC has expanded its scope, evolving to meet the changing needs of society. From humble beginnings, it has grown into a leading Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), dedicated to empowering rehabilitation groups, youth, and children. With a legacy of over five decades, FAAC continues to innovate, striving to create a more inclusive and caring community through its diverse range of impactful programs and services.

In response to societal shifts, FAAC remains steadfast in offering comprehensive integrated services. Presently, our council oversees over 20 service units, encompassing family and child support, youth programs, rehabilitation services, and social enterprise operations. Expansion

To cater to a wider spectrum of needs spanning infants, toddlers, children, and youth, our Council significantly broadened its services. In 1990, we took pioneering steps by establishing a self-financed youth outreaching service center, marking a milestone in our commitment to youth empowerment. Expanding our reach further, we extended our services to the New Territories in 1992, ensuring accessibility and support across diverse geographical regions. These initiatives underscore our dedication to serving the evolving needs of young individuals while enhancing our outreach to encompass a broader community.

Consultation and Counselling

FAAC emerged in 1968, founded by a passionate group in response to a significant social conflict within the city. Addressing the gap in mental health support for individuals in Shek Kip Mei, our initiative led to the establishment of "Friends Centres" strategically placed in densely populated and underserved districts. These centers were pivotal in offering essential consultation and counseling services, acting as a bridge between the community and government resources.
